DIY: Jewelry Box

Since I have a huge obsession with jewelry I am always in need of storage space.  I spotted this plain wooden box at the dollar store and thought is would make for a cute little box to store some of my things in.

Things You Need:

  • Spiral roller
  • Gems
  • Wooden box
  • Paint
  • Felt with sticky backing
  • Paint brush
  • Mod Podge

Paint the lid pink or whatever color you chose. Then paint the bottom half in a different color.

Now it’s time to paint the polka dots. I used these reinforcement labels there the same ones I used in this earlier DIY to make polka dot flats.  You can do the same or just free hand it.

Paint the inside of the circles in the same color paint you used for the lid.

DSCN2469Take the labels off when the paint has dried.  Now apply a thin coat of mod podge .

Cut your roller so it will fit into your box. Then cut a square piece of felt to wrap around your roller

Take off the paper backing on your felt and wrap around your roller. It comes with a sticky back so no glue will be needed. Cut and wrap as many rollers to fill up the inside of your jewelry box.

Add glue to the bottom of the box then line up your rollers .

Last step is to glue your gems to the top of your jewelry box.

It makes for a nice space to store your rings!

Happy crafting!

  1. Oh, wow! I have NEVER thought of using either the sticky dots for making polka dots or using rollers in such a way!! This is totally cool!! I plan on re-doing my poor jewelry box sometime soon, so I’ll absolutely have to use that idea! Thanks for the tips!
